B E it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis­ lativeAssemblyof Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:— 1. (1.) This Act may be cited as “The Charters short title. Towers Gas, Coke, Coal, and Light Company, Limited, Act Amendment Act of 1957.” (2.) *“ The Charters Towers Gas, Coke, Coal, and ^"tneipal Light Company, Limited, Act of 1897 ” is in this Act 0' referred to as the Principal Act. (3.) The Principal Act and this Act may be Collective collectively cited as “ The Charters Towers Gas, Coke, tltle‘ Coal, and Light Company, Limited, Acts, 1897 to 1957.” 2. Upon being satisfied that a company (in this Powers of Act referred to as the “new company”) is registered council under f“ The Companies Acts, 1931 to 1955,” with a constitution authorising and empowering it to carry on the business and undertaking of the Charters Towers, Gas Coke, Coal, and Light Company, Limited, to which *“ The Charters Towers Gas, Coke, Coal, and Light Company, Limited, Act of 1897,” applies, and that such company has acquired the said business and undertaking, the Governor in Council may by Order in Council published in the Gazette declare that, on and from a date specified in that Order *“ The Charters Towers Gas, Coke, Coal, and Light Company, Limited, Act of 1897,” shall apply * 61 V. f 22 G. 5 No. 53 and amending Acts.

No. 12, 1957. with respect to the new company (specifying the name thereof in the Order) in substitution for the Charters Towers Gas, Coke, Coal, and Light Company, Limited. Substituted Qn and from the date specified in the Order in ofPPrincipal Council made and published under the authority of this Act- Act, *“ The Charters Towers Gas, Coke, Coal, and Light Company, Limited, Act of 1897,”— (a) Shall cease to apply with respect to the Charters Towers Gas, Coke, Coal, and Light Company, Limited; and (b) Shall apply with respect to the new company, and accordingly the new company shall have and enjoy the rights, powers, immunities, authorities, and functions and be subject to the duties, obligations and responsibilities conferred or imposed by *“ The Charters Towers Gas, Coke, Coal, and Light Company, Limited, Act of 1897,” which shall be read by construing every reference therein to the Charters Towers Gas, Coke, Coal, and Light Company, Limited, as referring to the new company, and with and subject to all such other adaptations as may be necessary to give operation and effect to this Act and the Order in Council made and published under the authority hereof. * 61 V.
