CHARLES DARWIN UNIVERSITY (STUDENT ASSOCIATION) BY‑LAWS 2005

By-laws under the Charles Darwin University Act 2003

1Citation

These By-laws may be cited as the Charles Darwin University (Student Association) By-laws 2005.

2Definitions

In these By-laws:

  • (a)

    Association means the student association established or taken to be established under section 22 of the Act;

3Financial estimates and amenities fee
  • (1)

    The Association must, on or before 31 July in each year, provide to the Vice-Chancellor:

    • (a)

      an itemised report of the income and expenditure of the Association for the previous academic year, including detailed profit and loss accounts, balance sheets and accompanying notes, prepared in accordance with relevant principles and disclosure requirements of applicable accounting standards;

    • (b)

      the Association’s written estimates of expected income and proposed expenditure for the following academic year;

    • (c)

      any proposals of the Association regarding additional funding for the Association for the following academic year; and.

    • (d)

      such other information as may be required by the University, from time to time, to meet reporting requirements.

  • (2)

    The written proposal referred to in by-law 3(1)(c) may be taken into account by the Council or any delegate of Council when setting any particular fee or charge of the University but is not binding on the Council or any delegate of the Council.

4Inspection of records of the Association

The Association must permit an auditor engaged by the University to inspect any records of the Association at any reasonable time and on reasonable notice to the Association.

5Repeal

The by-laws in force immediately prior to the date of commencement of these by-laws and cited as the Northern Territory University (Student Association) By-laws 1989 are repealed on and from the date of commencement of these by-laws.
