A n Act to sanct ion t he cons t ruc t ion of a
Reservoi r a t t he Centennia l P a r k in con nect ion wi th t he Sydney W a t e r Supp ly ; and to t ransfer t he said work to and vest i t in t he Board of W a t e r Supply and Sewerage. [22nd December, 1894.]
Work, namely, " A Reservoir at the Centennial Park in connection WH E R E A S , pursuant to and in accordance with the provisions of the Public Works Act of 1888, a certain proposed Public with the Sydney Water Supply," was, on the twenty-ninth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two, submitted and explained by the Secretary for Public Works in the Legislative Assembly, and the said work was thereupon referred, on the motion of the said Secretary, to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works for their report thereon, which Committee reported to the said Assembly the result of their inquiries : And whereas, after the receipt of the said report, that is to say on the fifth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, the said Assembly by resolution declared that it was expedient that the said work be carried out subject to the modification recommended in the
said report; which resolution was notified in the Gazette on the eleventh day of December in the year last-mentioned: Be it there fore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—
1. The carrying out of the said work more particularly described in the Schedule to this Act is hereby sanctioned ; and the Secretary for Public Works, or the Member of the Executive Council for the time being performing the duties of the said Secretary, is hereby authorised to undertake and carry out the said work subject to the provisions of this Act, and for that purpose shall be and shall have the powers and duties of a Constructing Authority within the meaning of the Public Works Act of 1888. The plan of the said work is the plan marked " Centennial Park Reservoir," signed by the Secretary for Public Works and countersigned by the Engineer-in-Chief for Harbours and Rivers, and deposited in the office of the said Secretary.
2. The cost of carrying out the said work, estimated at eighty- three thousand pounds, may be defrayed from such Loan Votes as are now or may hereafter be applicable to the purpose aforesaid.
3. On the completion of the said work, the Governor shall
forthwith notify the same in the Gazette. And upon that notificationbeing made, there shall, by virtue of this Act alone, be transferred to and vested in the Board of Water Supply and Sewerage constituted under the Metropolitan Water and Sewerage Act of 1880 absolutely, but for and on behalf of Her Majesty, the property in and the control and management of the said work.
4. This Act may be cited as the " Centennial Park Reservoir Construction Act, 1894," and shall be construed as one with the Metropolitan Water and Sewerage Acts, 1880-1889, and the Metro politan Water and Sewerage Act Extension Act of 1894.
