CENSORSHIP OF FILMS AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 1993

Made by His Excellency the Governor in Executive Council.

Citation

1.     These regulations may be cited as the Censorship of Films Amendment

Regulations 1993.

Commencement

2.      These regulations come into operation on the day on which the Censorship

Laws Amendment Act 1993 comes into operation.

Principal regulations

and classifies that film as a G film,

3.      In these regulations the Censorship of Films Regulations 1948* are referred

to as the principal regulations.

Regulation 4 amended

4.      Regulation 4 of the principal regulations is amended by inserting after

"approve the following —

and classification

Regulation 5 amended

5. Regulation 5 of the principal regulations is amended — -

in paragraph (1) by deleting "as being suitable for general

.(a) exhibition," and substituting the following —

(b) in paragraph (2) by deleting "as being a film which should be viewed by children only with the guidance of a parent or guardian" and substituting the following -

and classifies that film as a PG film,

(C) in paragraph (3) b deleting "as being suitable for exhibition before
mature audiences, and substituting the following -

and classifies that film as an M film,

(d) by inserting after paragraph (3) the following paragraph -
(3a) approves a film and classifies that film as an MA film, he shall issue to the applicant a certificate
in accordance with Form 2D in the First
Schedule;

and

(e) in paragraph (4) by deleting "as being suitable for restricted exhibition (persons 6 to 18 years of age are not admitted)," and substituting the following -

and classifies that film as an R film,

Regulation 6 amended

6.      Regulation 6 of the principal regulations is amended -

(a) in subregulation (1) -

(i) in paragraph (a) by deleting "approved for general exhibition" and substituting the following -

classified as a G film

(ii) be viewed by children only with the guidance of a parent or in paragraph (b) by deleting "approved as a film which should
guardian" and substituting the following -

classified as a PG film

(iii) in paragraph (c) by deleting "approved as suitable for exhibition before mature audiences" and substituting the
following -

classified as an M film

(iv)     by deleting "or" after paragraph (c);

(v)      by inserting after paragraph (c) the following paragraph -

(ca) where the film has been classified as an MA film shall be enclosed in a hexagon;

or

and

(vi) in paragraph (d) by deleting "approved for restricted exhibition" and substituting the following -

classified as an R film

and

(b) in subregulation (2) by deleting
"of the Censor to a film may be indicated in the manner
following -

where the film has been approved for general

(a) exhibition, by the symbol (G);

where the film has been approved as a film which

(b) should be viewed by children only with the guidance of

a parent or guardian by the symbol (PG);

(c) where the film has been approved for exhibition before

mature audiences by the symbol (M); or

(d) where the film has been approved for restricted

exhibition by the symbol (R)."

and substituting the following -

it

of a film by the Censor and the classification of that film may be indicated by the symbol G, PG, M, MA or

R, as the case may be. ".

Regulation iSA amended

7. Regulation 15A of the principal regulations is amended in item 1 -

(a) by inserting after "approval" the following -

and/or classification "; and
(b) by inserting after "approved" the following -

and classified

First Schedule amended

S. The First Schedule to the principal regulations is amended -

(a) in Form 1 -

(i)     in the heading by inserting after "APPROVAL" the

following -

it AND CLASSIFICATION "; and

by deleting "approval of the same." and substituting the

(ii)     following -

approval and classification of the same. ";
(b) by deleting Forms 2, 2A, 2B and 2C and substituting the following forms -
