AN ACT to amend the Censorship of Films Act 1947.

[Assented to 27 December 1984.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Censorship of

2. This Act shall come into operation on 1

January 1985.

Section 12

amended.

3. Section 12 of the principal Act is amended

(a)

in subsection (la), by deleting paragraph (b) and substituting the following para- graph

" (b) a film which should be viewed by children only with the guidance of a parent or guardian; ";

and

(b)

in subsection (2), by deleting the comma after "opinion".

Section 15

amended.

4. Section 15 of the principal Act is amended in the second proviso to subsection (1) by deleting "not recommended for children" and substituting the following-

" films which should be viewed by children only

with the guidance of a parent or guardian ".

Section 18

amended.

5. Section 18 of the principal Act is amended by deleting "not recommended for children" in both places where it occurs and substituting the follow- ing

" a film which should be viewed by children only

with the guidance of a parent or guardian ".

Section 28

amended.

6. Section 28 of the principal Act is amended in paragraph (b) of subsection (1) by deleting "not recommended for children" and substituting the following-

" a film which should be viewed by children only

with the guidance of a parent or guardian ".

7. A film classified by the censor, a delegate of the censor or the Minister before 1 January 1985 as being, in his opinion, not recommended for children is deemed to be a film classified as a film which should be viewed by children only with the guidance of a parent or guardian.
