AN ACT to amend the Censorship of Films Act,

1947-1976.

[Assented to 29th August, 1978.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Censorship Short title

2. This Act shall come into operation on a date to be fixed by proclamation.

3. Section 10 of the principal Act is amended by deleting the words "appropriate fee specified in the Schedule to this Act" in lines four and five and substituting the words "prescribed fee".

Section 15

amended.

4. Subsection (1) of section 15 of the principal Act is amended

(a)

by deleting the words "one hundred square inches" in line four of the first proviso and substituting the words "six hundred and fifty square centimetres"; and

(b)

by deleting the words "six-point black" in line six of the first proviso and substituting the words "two millimetre black".

Section 17

amended.

5. Subsection (2) of section 17 of the principal Act is amended by deleting the words "six feet" in line eight and substituting the words "one thousand eight hundred millimetres".

Section 22

amended.

6. Subsection (3) of section 22 of the principal Act is amended by deleting the words "appropriate fee specified in the Schedule to this Act" in lines one and two and substituting the words "prescribed fee".

Section 23

7. Subsection (2) of section 23 of the principal Act is amended by deleting the words "fee prescribed in the Schedule to this Act" in lines six and seven and substituting the words "prescribed fee".

Section 29

amended.

8. Section 29 of the principal Act is amended by adding after subsection (1) the following subsections

(2) Regulations may be made under this

section prescribing fees to be paid in relation

to any matter prescribed under the regulations.

(3) No fees shall be payable for registration as an exhibitor or for the approval of films by the censor in respect of entertainments conducted solely for charitable purposes or for benevolent or special (including educational) purposes approved in writing by the Minister. .

Section 30 of the principal Act is repealed.
