An Act to amend " An Act for regulating the

slaughtering of Cattle." [8th September, 1843.]

W H E R E A S by an A c t passed by the Governor of N e w South Wales wi th t h e advice of the Legis la t ive Council thereof in t he fifth

year of t he re ign of H i s la te Majesty K i n g Wi l l i am t h e F o u r t h in t i tu led

" An Act for regulating the slaughtering of Cattle" it is among other t h ings enacted t h a t i t shall be lawful for H i s Excel lency the Governor to appoint or cause to be appointed wi th in t he Town of Sydney and other towns and distr icts as t h e said Governor shal l from t ime to t ime appoin t by a notice to be publ ished in t he Government

Gazette some persons to be called " Inspec to r s of Slaughter-houses
and of Cat t le in tended for S l augh te r " and whereas since t he pass ing of t he said Ac t t h e Town of Sydney has been created a City and a Corpora t ion has been the re in established and it is expedient to author ize t he Mayor and Council of t h e said city and of o ther cities or towns which have been or may hereafter be incorpora ted to appoint " Inspec tors of S laughter -houses and of Cat t le in tended for S l augh te r " Be it therefore enacted by H i s Excel lency the Governor of N e w South W a l e s w i t h t h e advice and consent of t h e Legislat ive Counci l thereof T h a t from a n d after t he pass ing of t h e present Ac t so m u c h of t h e said rec i ted A c t as relates to t h e appo in tmen t of such Inspec to r for the Town of Sydney shall be and t h e same is hereby repealed.

2. A n d be it enacted Tha t from and after t he pass ing of th i s A c t i t shal l and m a y be lawful for t h e Mayor and Council of t h e City of Sydney a n d t h e Mayor and Council of such o the r cities or towns as have been or hereafter may be incorporated to appoin t " Inspec tors of S laughter -houses and of Cat t le in tended for S l a u g h t e r " who are to be notified in t h e Government Gazette a n d are requ i red to perform the dut ies of such Inspec tors as set for th and declared and specified in t h e said reci ted Act .
