No. 14 of 1979.

AN ACT to amend the Cattle Industry Compensation

Act, 1965-1976.

[Assented to 30th August, 1979.]

RE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent

Majesty, by and with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council and the Legislative

Assembly of Western Australia, in this present

Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the

same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Cattle Short title

and citation.

In this Act the Cattle Industry Compensation

The principal Act as amended by this Act may

be cited as the Cattle Industry Compensation Act,

1965-1979.

Long title

amended.

The long title to the principal Act is amended

by adding after the word "cases" in line five the

words "and for other purposes".

Section 23

amended.

3.

Section 23 of the principal Act is amended by

repealing and re-enacting subsection (2) as follows

(2) Subject to this Act, the Fund shall be

applied

(a)

for the purposes of administering this Act;

(b)

to the payment pursuant to this Act of claims for compensation;

(c)

to the payment of the costs of the provision of, or the promotion and encouragement of, scientific research for the improvement of cattle health and production; and

(d)

any other purpose that, in the opinion of the Minister, will promote and encourage the cattle industry. .
