An Act to emble the Gorernor to prevent the importation of Cattle into South Australia, under certain circumstances, andjbr other pwposes.

HEREAS certain fatal and contrrgious discascs sometimes

W prevail amongst cattle, and it is desirable to pmrcut the

spread of such diseases amongst the cattle in the Province of South

2. Any cattle infected with any contagious disease may, during the period when any such Proclamation shall be in force, be shot or otherwise destroyed by any Constable, Crown Lands Ranger, or other person duly authorized by the Conirnissioner of Crown Lands.

3. Any person offending apinst the provisions of this Act, or of any Proclamation issued i n pursuance of this Act, may be appre- hended by any person, and taken bcfore the nearest Justice of the Peace for the said Province.

4. All proceedings under this Act may be taken in a sununary way before any two or Iilorc of IIcr Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the said Province.

6. And whereas the Commissioiier of Crown Lands did, on the tweuty-first day of September, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-one, give instructions that 120 cattlc sliould be allowed to enter the paid Province, from the Colonies of New South Wales and Victoria, or either of them; and that, if any cattle had entered the said Proviilce as aforesaid, on or since the said tweutieth day of September, they should be driven out of the said Province; and that, if the said cattle could not be driven out as aforesaid, then that any of the said cattle that might be found to be affected with the disease known as pleuro-pneumonia might be shot, or otherwise desltroyed: Be it further enacted, that the said Commissioner of Crown Lauds, all Officers of Police, Crown Lands Rangers,'and other

persons who may have been aiding the said Officers of Police and

indemnified and protected against any action, claim, or damages,

Crown Lands Rangers, shall not be Iiable to, and are hereby

to which he, they, or any of them, might otherwise Irsve been liable by reason of giving or carrying into effect the said instructions, or any of them, or by reason of any act bonic jide done under eolor of
