on t he receipt of a pe t i t ion signed by no t fewer t h a n t w e n t y house
holders res ident a t a n y t o w n or place where t h e Ac t s ix teen th Vic tor ia n u m b e r twen ty - th r ee has been al ready declared to apply p ray ing t h a t t he said Act may be declared no longer applicable to such t o w n or place cause t h e subs tance a n d p rayer of such pet i t ion to be publ i shed in t h e Gazette a n d unless a counte r pet i t ion s igned by a grea te r n u m b e r of householders resident as aforesaid be received by t h e Colonial Secre tary wi th in one m o n t h from the date of such publ ica t ion t he Governor wi th t he advice aforesaid may by Proc lamat ion publ i shed in l ike m a n n e r declare t h e said A c t no longer applicable to such town or place a n d the same shall the reupon be no longer appl icable accordingly.
