Application to extend single interest employer authorisation in B2015/359.

[1] On 19 March 2015 the Fair Work Commission (the Commission) issued a single interest authorisation (the Authorisation) [PR562160] pursuant to s.249(4) of the Fair Work Act 2009 (the Act). On 7 March 2016 the Authorisation was extended [PR577716] and is due to cease operation on 7 March 2017.

[2] The Catholic Church Endowment Society Inc T/A Catholic Education Office (the Catholic Education Office) is a bargaining representative for the proposed enterprise agreement.

[3] Pursuant to s.252 of the Act the Catholic Education Office has applied to extend the period of operation of the Authorisation. The application advises that the parties have made “significant progress in the negotiations but the negotiations are not likely to be completed and the Enterprise Agreement finalized by 6 March 2017”.

[4] I am satisfied that there are reasonable prospects that an agreement will be made if the Authorisation operates for a longer period and consider it appropriate in all the circumstances to extend the period.

[5] An Order 1 extending the Authorisation will be issued with this decision.
