Cat Act 2011

Cat Amendment Regulations 2014

These regulations amend the Cat Regulations 2012.

Made by the Governor in Executive Council.

1.            Citation

These regulations are the Cat Amendment Regulations 2014.

2.            Commencement

These regulations come into operation as follows —

(a) regulations 1 and 2 — on the day on which these regulations are published in the Gazette;
(b) the rest of the regulations — on the day after that day.

3.            Regulations amended

4.            Regulation 3 amended

(1) In regulation 3(1) delete the definition of registered training
provider.
(2) In regulation 3(1) in the definition of Form delete "Schedule 1;"
and insert:
Schedule 1.
Note: The heading to amended regulation 3 is to read:

5. Regulation 6 amended
After regulation 6(a) insert:

(ba) Global Microchip Registry Pty Ltd, trading as

"Global Micro Animal Registry";

6. Regulation 7 amended
Delete regulation 7(2) and insert:

(2) The qualifications for paragraph (b) of the definition of

microchip implanter in section 3(1) of the Act

comprise the successful completion of -

(a)

a unit of competency in microchip implantation of cats and dogs entitled "ACMMIC401A Implant microchip in cats and dogs" (provided by a registered training provider); and

(b) one or more of the following courses (provided
by a registered training provider) -

(i)     ACM404 12 Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing;

(ii) LGAREGS404A Undertake Appointed
Animal Control Duties and
Responsibilities;

(iii)     LGA40504 Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services);

(iv)     ACM302 10 Certificate III in Animal Technology;

(v) ACMSS00001 Microchip Implantation
for Dogs and Cats Skill Set;

(vi)     ACM304 10 Certificate III in Companion Animal Services;

(vii)     ACM401 10 Certificate IV in Animal Control and Regulation;

(viii)      ACM40210 Certificate IV in Captive Animals;

(ix)      ACM40310 Certificate IV in Companion Animal Services.

(3) In subregulation (2) —
registered training provider has the meaning given by
the Vocational Education and Training Act 1996
section 5(1).

7.            Schedule 3 amended

In Schedule 3 after clause 1(3) insert:

(4) A local government may reduce or waive a fee payable
under subclause (2) or (3) in respect of any individual cat or
any class of cats within its district.
