s1 2 s4 Casino Gaming Amendment Rule (No. 1) 2001 No. 56, 2001 1 Short title This rule may be cited as the Casino Gaming Amendment Rule (No. 1) 2001. 2 Rule amended This rule amends the Casino Gaming Rule 1999. 3 Amendment of s 4 (Definitions) Section 4— insert — ‘ “deck checker” means an item of gaming equipment approved by the chief executive under section 62 of the Act, that is used for a game involving playing cards and into which the decks of cards required for the game are inserted to check each deck contains the correct cards for the game.’. 4 Amendment of sch 1 (Baccarat) (1) Schedule 1, section 3(2), ‘or logo of’— omit, insert — ‘of, or logo for,’. (2) Schedule 1, after section 11— insert — ‘11A Free hand ‘(1) A casino operator may direct the banker to deal a round of play, for which the players must not make a wager (a “free hand” ), if— (a) a player at the table asks for a free hand; and (b) all of the other players agree to play a free hand. ‘(2) A free hand must be played under sections 21 to 27, 28(1) and (2), and 30. ‘(3) No more than 3 free hands may be played consecutively.’.

(4) Schedule 1, section 18(2), ‘counterclockwise’— omit, insert — ‘anticlockwise’. (5) Schedule 1, section 29(4), ‘counterclockwise’— omit, insert — ‘anticlockwise’. 5 Amendment of sch 2 (Blackjack) (1) Schedule 2, section 7(2)(a) to (g), ‘;’— omit, insert — ‘; or’. (2) Schedule 2, after section 13— insert — ‘13A Use of a deck checker ‘(1) A deck checker may be used for blackjack. ‘(2) After receiving the decks of cards for a game of blackjack, an authorised employee must inspect the cards in a deck before inserting the deck into the deck checker. ‘(3) When the decks of cards have been checked by the deck checker and the authorised employee is satisfied that each deck contains the correct cards, the authorised employee must immediately seal the decks and store them securely until they are required for play. ‘(4) When the decks of cards are placed on the table for play, the dealer must do the following— (a) check the backs of the cards for marks and imperfections; (b) if a player asks to inspect the cards, spread the cards face up on the table to enable a person inspecting them to see if each deck is complete; (c) turn the cards face downward on the table;
s6 4 s6 Casino Gaming Amendment Rule (No. 1) 2001 No. 56, 2001 (d) mix the cards thoroughly by washing them; (e) stack and shuffle the cards. ‘(5) In this section— ‘ “authorised employee” means— (a) the floor manager; or (b) a casino employee who is authorised to use a deck checker under a system of controls and procedures approved by the chief executive under section 75(4) of the Act. 1 ’. 6 Amendment of sch 9 (Mini-baccarat) (1) Schedule 9, section 3(2)(a), ‘or logo of’— omit, insert — ‘of, or logo for,’. (2) Schedule 9, section 9, section heading— omit, insert — ‘ When a wager cannot be placed, changed or withdrawn ’. (3) Schedule 9, after section 10— insert — ‘10A Free hand ‘(1) A casino operator may direct the banker to deal a round of play, for which the players must not make a wager (a “free hand” ), if— (a) a player at the table asks for a free hand; and (b) all of the other players agree to play a free hand. ‘(2) A free hand must be played under sections 17 to 22, 23(1) and (2), and 24. ‘(3) No more than 3 free hands may be played consecutively.’. 1 Section 75 (Chief executive’s approval) of the Act.
s6 5 s6 Casino Gaming Amendment Rule (No. 1) 2001 No. 56, 2001 (4) Schedule 9, after section 13— insert — ‘13A Use of a deck checker ‘(1) A deck checker may be used for mini-baccarat. ‘(2) After receiving the decks of cards for a game of mini-baccarat, an authorised employee must inspect the cards in a deck before inserting the deck into the deck checker. ‘(3) When the decks of cards have been checked by the deck checker and the authorised employee is satisfied that each deck contains the correct cards, the authorised employee must immediately seal the decks and store them securely until they are required for play. ‘(4) When the decks of cards are placed on the table for play, the dealer must do the following— (a) check the backs of the cards for marks and imperfections; (b) if a player asks to inspect the cards, spread the cards face up on the table to enable a person inspecting them to see if each deck is complete; (c) turn the cards face downward on the table; (d) mix the cards thoroughly by washing them; (e) stack and shuffle the cards. ‘(5) In this section— ‘ “authorised employee” means— (a) the floor manager; or (b) a casino employee who is authorised to use a deck checker under a system of controls and procedures approved by the chief executive under section 75(4) of the Act. 2 ’. (2) Schedule 14, after section 13— insert — ‘13A Use of a deck checker ‘(1) A deck checker may be used for spanish blackjack. ‘(2) After receiving the decks of cards for a game of spanish blackjack, an authorised employee must inspect the cards in a deck before inserting the deck into the deck checker. ‘(3) When the decks of cards have been checked by the deck checker and the authorised employee is satisfied that each deck contains the correct cards, the authorised employee must immediately seal the decks and store them securely until they are required for play. ‘(4) When the decks of cards are placed on the table for play, the dealer must do the following— (a) check the backs of the cards for marks and imperfections; (b) if a player asks to inspect the cards, spread the cards face up on the table to enable a person inspecting them to see if each deck is complete; (c) turn the cards face downward on the table; (d) mix the cards thoroughly by washing them; (e) stack and shuffle the cards. ‘(5) In this section— ‘ “authorised employee” means— (a) the floor manager; or
