Casino Control (Amendment) Act 1993

An Act to amend the Casino Control Act 1988

The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:

Short title

1.  This Act may be cited as the Casino Control (Amendment) Act 1993.

Commencement

2.  This Act commences on the day on which it is notified in the Gazette.

Principal Act

3.  In this Act, “Principal Act” means the Casino Control Act 1988.1

Interpretation

4.  Section 3 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from subsection (1) the definition of “financial year” and substituting the following definition:

“ ‘financial year’ means a period of 12 months ending on 31 December;”.

Transitional

5.  (1)  Section 122 of the Principal Act as amended by this Act applies in respect of the financial year that ended on 31 December 1992 as if a reference in that section to 90 days after the end of a financial year were a reference to 21 days after the commencement of this Act.

(2)  Section 123 of the Principal Act as amended by this Act applies in respect of the financial year that ended on 31 December 1992 as if—

(a)a reference in that section to the end of a financial year were a reference to the commencement of this Act; and

(b)a reference in that section to the books, accounts and financial statements to be audited were a reference to the books, accounts and financial statements relating to that financial year.
