CASINO CONTROL ACT 1992—REGULATION

(Relating to proof of age)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Casino Control Act 1992, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 1 March 1996.

Amendments

2. The Casino Control Regulation 1995 is amended:

(a)

by inserting in clause 25 after the words “above that age” the words “and only if the document has not expired and otherwise appears to be in force”;

(b)

by inserting in section 117E (1) of the applied provisions of the Liquor Act 1982 in Schedule 4 after the words “above that age” the words “and only if the document has not expired and otherwise appears to be in force”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The objects of this Regulation are:

(a)

to limit the various forms of evidence that are listed in the Casino Control Regulation 1995 as acceptable evidence that a person is over 18 (drivers/riders licences and permits, passports and proof of age cards) to those that have both not expired and otherwise appear to be in force; and

(b)

to consequentially amend the applied provisions of the Liquor Act 1982 contained in Schedule 4 to that Regulation to reflect parallel amendments made to the evidence of age provisions in the Liquor Regulation 1983.

This Regulation is made under sections 89, 91 and 170 (the general regulation

making power) of the Casino Control Act 1992.
