Exemption — Cessna Supplemental Inspection Document requirements
1 Duration
This instrument:
(a) commences on the day of registration; and
(b) is repealed at the end of 30 June 2018.
2 Repeal
Instrument CASA EX110/15 is repealed.
3 Application
This instrument applies to any single engine Cessna Aircraft Company (Cessna) aircraft to which any of the following Cessna documents apply:
(a)Service Bulletin SEB03-1 or SB 02-55-01 “Elevator Rivet Installation” as referenced in Supplemental Inspection Document (SID) 55-10-01;
(b)Service Bulletin SEB 05-2 “Fuselage skin & Fuel Step reinforcement” as referenced in SID 53-12-01;
(c)Service Bulletin SE84-15 (Service Kit SK182-84) “Shimmy Dampener Installation Improvement”;
(d)any SID task for the aircraft landing gear with supplemental inspection numbers beginning with “32-”– (ATA32).
4 Exemption for person carrying out maintenance
(1) A person carrying out maintenance on an aircraft is exempt from compliance with regulation 42V of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 (CAR 1988) in relation to compliance with any of the Cessna single engine documents mentioned in section 3.
(2) In the event of any inconsistency with a previous direction or ruling issued by, or on behalf of, CASA, this exemption takes priority.
5 Exemption for persons certifying maintenance
(1) A person certifying maintenance carried out on an aircraft mentioned in section 3 is exempt from compliance with subregulation 42ZP (1) of CAR 1988 in relation to certifying the completion of maintenance, being maintenance that has not been carried out in accordance with the approved maintenance data for the aircraft but in accordance with this exemption.
(2) In the event of any inconsistency with a previous direction or ruling issued by, or on behalf of, CASA, this exemption takes priority.
6 Exemption for compliance with maintenance schedule
(1) The certificate of registration holder of an aircraft mentioned in section 3 is exempt from compliance with regulation 41 of the CAR 1988 in relation to compliance with the aircraft’s maintenance schedule as it relates only to the Cessna single engine documents mentioned in section 3.
(2) In the event of any inconsistency with a previous direction or ruling issued by, or on behalf of, CASA, this exemption takes priority.
7 Conditions
The exemption is subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedule 1.
Schedule 1 Conditions
1 The exemption does not apply to an aircraft if:
(a) any working or loose fastener in the elevator is detected during any maintenance; or
(b) the airframe has been modified in a way that changes the loading of the aircraft’s stabilisers; or
(c) any defect or damage is found in the area of the aircraft which the documents in section 3 refer to, which requires rectification.
2 This exemption does not affect the need to comply with the following SID documents:
(a) 55-10-01 Horizontal Stabilizer, Elevators and attachments;
(b) 53-12-01 Fuselage lower doorpost and strut fitting.
