Exemption — of authorised flying instructors employed by Singapore Flying College Pte Ltd

1          Duration

            This instrument:

(a)   commences on the day of registration; and

(b)   stops having effect at the end of November 2012.

2          Application

            This instrument applies to flying training conducted by an authorised flying instructor employed by Singapore Flying College Pte Ltd, Aviation Reference Number 901286 (the College), for the purpose of enabling the student pilot undergoing training to obtain a commercial pilot licence issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.

3          Exemption

An authorised flying instructor is exempt from compliance with paragraph 5.70 (1) (a) of CAR 1988.

4          Conditions

            The exemption is subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedule 1.

Schedule 1          Conditions

      1     The flying instructor must conduct training:

(a)   only in Cessna 172 or Beechcraft 58 type aircraft; and

(b)   only for the purposes of the flying instructor’s employment by the College.

2    The College and flying instructor must ensure that a student pilot does not undergo training unless he or she:

(a)   has at least 20 hours’ aeronautical experience in a registered or a recognised aeroplane of which 5 hours are as pilot in command and at least 2 hours are instrument flight time; and

(b)   has completed a flight test (for the category of aircraft that the student proposes to fly) that is:

             (i)  based on a syllabus of flying training that is nominated by the College and approved in writing by CASA as equivalent to the general flying progress flight test; and

            (ii)  conducted by an authorised flying instructor.

3    The College and flying instructor must ensure that a student pilot undergoing training does not complete 15 hours of flying as pilot in command without undergoing a dual check by an authorised flying instructor.
