Exemption — take-offs from Lady Elliott Island aerodrome
1 Duration
This instrument:
(a) commences on the day after registration; and
(b) stops having effect at the end of 31 July 2014.
2 Application
This instrument applies to the pilot in command of an aircraft taking off from runway 17 or 35 on Lady Elliott Island, to enable him or her, in case of an engine failure:
(a) to be within safe gliding distance of shallow water; or
(b) to return to the aerodrome.
3 Exemption
The pilot in command is exempt from compliance with paragraph 166A (2) (f) of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988.
4 Conditions
The exemption is subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedule 1.
Schedule 1 Conditions
1The pilot in command must maintain the same track from take-off until the aircraft is at least 300 feet above the terrain.
2Before commencing take-off, the pilot in command must broadcast, on CTAF frequency 126.7, his or her intention to turn at less than 500 feet.
3The pilot in command may take off under the exemption only if he or she considers that it is safe to do so.
4For take-offs under the exemption, the pilot is required to comply with procedures established by Istlecote Pty Ltd, trading as Seair Pacific – Gold Coast, Aviation Reference Number 504606, for such take-offs.
