CASA EX85/20 — Small and Light Unmanned Free Balloons (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) Exemption 2020

1          Name

     This instrument is CASA EX85/20 — Small and Light Unmanned Free Balloons (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) Exemption 2020.

2          Duration

This instrument:

(a)   commences on 1 June 2020; and

(b)   is repealed at the end of 31 May 2021.

3          Definitions

Note   In this instrument, certain terms and expressions have the same meaning as they have in the Civil Aviation Act 1988 and the regulations. These include: light balloon, small balloon and unmanned free balloon.

In this instrument:

approved area has the meaning given by regulation 101.150 of CASR.

4          Application

This instrument applies to the operator of an unmanned free balloon that is:

(a)   a small balloon released in accordance with regulation 101.155 of CASR; and

(b)   a light balloon that is released outside an approved area in accordance with regulation 101.160 of CASR.

5          Exemption

The operator is exempt from compliance with regulation 101.073 of CASR.
