Exemption — Lloyd Helicopters Pty Ltd and S-92A endorsements

1          Duration

            This instrument:

(a)   commences on the day after it is registered; and

(b)   stops having effect at the end of 31 October 2009.

2          Application

            This instrument applies to a pilot in command of a Sikorsky S-92A helicopter (the helicopter):

(a)   operated by

        Lloyd Helicopters Pty Ltd, trading as CHC Helicopters (Australia)

        under air operator’s certificate number C222688-10 (the operator); and

(b)   engaged in charter operations.

3          Exemption

The pilot in command is exempt from compliance with subregulation 5.25 (3) of CAR 1988 in relation to paragraph 8.1 of Civil Aviation Order 40.3.0.

4          Conditions

            The exemption is subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedule 1.

Schedule 1          Conditions

      1     The pilot in command must have helicopter flight experience that CASA has advised, in writing, is acceptable for the purpose of this exemption.

      2     The pilot in command must have completed the S-92A syllabus of training described in volume 8 of the operator’s operations manual as approved by CASA in writing.

      3     The pilot in command must have flown the helicopter for at least 5 hours as pilot in command, or acting in command under supervision, before acting as pilot in command on a charter operation.

      4     The 5 hours referred to in clause 3 must include:

(a)   a company line check as mentioned in volume 8 of the operations manual as approved by CASA in writing; and

(b)   at least 10 on-shore and off-shore landings by day or by night:

             (i)  including at least 3 off-shore landings; and

            (ii)  combined with appropriate instrument approaches.
