CESSNA PROPELLER-DRIVEN AIRCRAFT — PERSONS CARRYING OUT MAINTENANCE — EXEMPTION FROM COMPLIANCE WITH
SUPPLEMENTAL INSPECTION DOCUMENTS

I, BRUCE ROBERT GEMMELL, Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer, a delegate of CASA, under subregulation 308 (1) of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 (CAR 1988), exempt persons carrying out maintenance on propeller-driven Cessna aircraft or issuing or signing maintenance releases in respect of such aircraft:

(a)from compliance with subregulation 42V (1) of CAR 1988, in respect of maintenance not being carried out that is referred to in a supplemental inspection document (SID) issued by the Cessna Aircraft Company; and

(b)from compliance with subregulation 43 (7) of CAR 1988, to the extent that the subregulation may be taken to prevent the issue of a maintenance release, because of maintenance required under such a SID  not being carried out; and

(c)from compliance with subregulation 43 (13) of CAR 1988, to the extent that the subregulation may be taken to prevent the signing of a maintenance release, because of maintenance required under such a SID  not being carried out.

This exemption applies in respect of a SID whether issued before or after the commencement of this exemption.

This exemption ceases to have effect:

(a)in relation to an aircraft that is engaged in a regular public transport  operation — immediately after 31 January 2005 or 15 months after the issue of the particular SID (whichever is later); or

(b)in relation to an aircraft that is engaged in a charter operation — immediately after 31 March 2006 or 15 months after the issue of the particular SID (whichever is later); or

(c)in relation to an aircraft to which paragraph (a) or (b) does not apply:

(i)on the expiry of this instrument; or

(ii)on the commencement of Subpart 91.M of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998;

whichever occurs first.

This instrument commences on gazettal and ceases to have effect at the end of 30 November 2007.
