Exemption — attendance of all ARFFS staff at CASA accredited training

1          Duration

                 This instrument:

(a)   commences on the day after registration; and

(b)   stops having effect at the end of August 2012.

2          Application

                 This instrument applies to attendance of aerodrome rescue and fire-fighting service (ARFFS) staff at a CASA accredited ARFFS training course:

(a)   for instruction on technological changes; and

(b)   to practice revised firefighting procedures.

3          Exemption

                 Airservices Australia (AA), as the approved ARFFS provider, and each ARFFS staff member, is exempt from compliance with subregulation 139.845 (4) of CASR 1998 in respect of paragraph 18.1.1.4 of the Manual of Standards for Subpart 139.H of CASR 1998.

Note   Paragraph 18.1.1.4 requires all staff to attend a CASA accredited ARFFS training course at intervals not exceeding 4 years for instruction on technological changes and to practice revised firefighting procedures.

4          Conditions

                 The exemption is subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedule 1.

Schedule 1          Conditions

        1     AA must make every effort to train all available operational ARFFS staff using the Compartment Fire Behaviour Training concept before the end of August 2012.

        2     AA must notify CASA in writing if:

(a)   the training mentioned in clause 1 has been completed; or

(b)   AA forms the view that the training will not be completed before the end of August 2012.
