EXEMPTION FROM PARAGRAPHS 166 (1) (d), (f) AND (g) OF
THE CIVIL AVIATION REGULATIONS 1988
I, Michael Robert TOLLER, Director of Aviation Safety, having taken into account all relevant considerations relating to the interests of safety, on behalf of CASA, issue the following exemption under regulation 308 of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 (CAR 1988).
EXEMPTION
The pilot in command of:
(a)the De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver floatplane VH-AQA, VH-AQU or VH-NOO; or
(b)the Cessna 185F floatplane VH-LAZ;
is exempt from compliance with paragraphs 166 (1) (d), (f) and (g) of CAR 1988 while the pilot is in, on, or otherwise associated with the operation of the floatplane, on condition that, subject to any directions given by Air Traffic Control:
(c)the pilot in command ensures that, when the floatplane is taking off or landing, the pilot turns the floatplane in a direction that will enable the floatplane to make a water landing in the event of engine failure; and
(d)the floatplane is operated in accordance with the relevant parts of the operations manual relating to aircraft operated by Seaplane Safaris Pty Ltd (Aviation Reference Number 580624).
This instrument stops having effect at the end of November 2006.
