Exemption — runway end safety area non-compliance RWY 07 end
1 Duration
This instrument:
(a) commences on 14 May 2008; and
(b) stops having effect at the end of 31 October 2008.
2 Revocation
Instrument AD 06/2008 is revoked.
3 Application
The instrument applies to Sydney Airport Corporation Limited, the operator of Sydney International Airport (the operator), in relation to runway end safety area (RESA) RWY 07 undershoot end.
4 Exemption
The operator is exempt from compliance with regulation 139.015 of CASR 1998 in respect of paragraphs 6.2.25.1 and 6.2.25.2 of Subpart 139.A of the Manual of Standards Part 139.
5 Conditions
The exemption is subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedule 1.
Schedule 1 Conditions
1 Landings on Runway 07 may be undertaken when crosswinds on other runways exceed 20 knots or for urgent medical or emergency operations.
2 For Runway 07 landings, a non-compliant undershoot RESA is in existence with a compliant overrun RESA provided at the eastern end of the runway.
3 The operator must ensure that a fully compliant temporary RESA is provided when landing on RWY 25 at the runway overrun end by reducing the declared distance of this runway by 97 metres at the western end.
