Exemption — from type training and assessment requirements of CAO 100.66

Approval — of alternative type training and assessment

1          Duration

            This instrument:

(a)   commences on the day after it is registered; and

(b)   stops having effect at the end of 30 November 2007.

2          Application

            This instrument applies to:

(a)   each person mentioned in Schedule 4 (the trainees); and

(b)   the Embraer 170 and 190 aeroplanes.

3          Exemption

Each trainee who applies in writing for a rating is exempt from compliance with subregulation 33B (4) of CAR 1988 to the extent mentioned in Schedule 1.

4          Conditions

            The exemption is subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedule 2.

5          Approval

            For the trainees, I approve the type training, and assessment, mentioned in Schedule 3 when it is delivered by the respective delivery agents mentioned in Schedule 3.

Schedule 1          Extent of exemption

            The exemption extends only to the requirements in subparagraph 15.2 (b), and under sub-subparagraphs 16 (a) (ii) and (iii) of CAO 100.66, that for the endorsement of a rating on a category B2 or subcategory B1.1 maintenance authority, the type training and assessment must be conducted by a recognised organisation.

Schedule 2          Conditions

      1     Each trainee must successfully complete all elements of the approved type training and assessment mentioned in Schedule 3 to the satisfaction of the respective delivery agents.

      2     For the approved type training and assessment, each trainee must obtain from the respective delivery agents, and give to CASA, persuasive documentary proof that he or she meets the requirement in clause 1.

Note   Documentary proof includes original, or certified copies of original, certificates of successful course completion and assessment, issued under the authority of the respective delivery agents. Authentic documents of this kind would be considered persuasive. CASA will also independently obtain from the delivery agents a statement of training and assessment outcomes for each trainee.

Schedule 3          Approved type training and assessment

      1     The following course programs, and related trainee assessment, delivered in Brisbane by Swiss Aviation Training Ltd as the delivery agent:

(a)   the Embraer 170 B1/B2 Maintenance Type Training Course; and

(b)   the Embraer 170 to 190 B1/B2 Maintenance Type Differential Training Course.

      2     The Embraer 170 and 190 B1/B2 Practical Training Course, and related trainee assessment, delivered in Canada by Air Canada Technical Services as the delivery agent.
