Exemption — low-level operations at air displays

1          Duration

This instrument:

(a)   commences on the day of registration; and

(b)   expires at the end of January 2018, as if it had been repealed by another instrument.

2          Definition

low-level operation has the same meaning given by regulation 61.010 of CASR 1998.

3          Application

     This exemption applies to each pilot in command of an aircraft (the pilot) who:

(a)   is conducting a low-level operation at an air display approved by CASA; and

(b)   does not hold a low-level rating or an aerial application rating.

4          Exemption

The pilot is exempt from:

(a) paragraph 157 (1) (b) of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988; and

(b) subregulation 61.065 (1) of CASR 1998; and

(c) subregulation 61.375 (7) of CASR 1998, but only in relation to item 5 of Table 61.375 of CASR 1998.

5          Conditions

The exemptions are subject to the conditions in Schedule 1.

Schedule 1 — Conditions

1     The pilot must not fly below 200 feet.

2     The pilot must not fly with a bank angle of more than 30º between 200 feet and 500 feet.

3     For an air display in which the pilot is conducting a low-level operation, the pilot must comply with any relevant conditions contained in the air display approval issued by CASA.
