Exemption — from requirement to have training and checking organisation

1          Duration

            This instrument:

(a)   commences on 1 July 2005; and

(b)   stops having effect at the end of June 2006.

2          Application

            This instrument applies to Helicorp Pty Ltd (ARN 435780) (the operator) for its operation of Erickson Air-Crane S-64 Helicopters (the aircraft).

3          Exemption

The operator is exempt from compliance with regulation 217 of CAR 1988.

4          Conditions

            The exemption is subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedule 1 which are necessary in the interests of safety.

Schedule 1          Conditions

      1     The operator must:

(a)   hold a discrete AOC for the aircraft; and

(b)   comply with any conditions mentioned in it.

      2     The aircraft may only:

(a)   be operated for fire fighting purposes; and

(b)   carry crew members.

      3     The aircraft may be flown in Australia only by a pilot who meets FAA and Erickson check and training proficiency requirements.

      4     The Chief Pilot must:

(a)   sight each operating crew member’s:

             (i)  licence for the aircraft; and

            (ii)  most recent proficiency check on the aircraft; and

(b)keep copies of them for 3 years.
