Exemption — provision of ARFFS at Sunshine Coast Airport, Maroochydore
1 Duration
This instrument:
(a) commences on the day after it is registered; and
(b) stops having effect at the end of 1 March 2010.
2 Application
This instrument applies to Airservices Australia (AA), Aviation Reference Number 202210, as the approved Aerodrome Rescue Fire Fighting Service (ARFFS) providing fire fighting services at Sunshine Coast Airport, Maroochydore.
3 Exemption
AA is exempt from compliance with the provisions of CASR 1998 mentioned in Schedule 1 in respect of the provisions of the Manual of Standards —Part 139H (the MOS) mentioned in that Schedule.
4 Conditions
The exemption is subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedule 2.
Schedule 1 Provisions
Subregulation 139.772 (2) of CASR 1998 in respect of paragraphs 22.1.2.1, 22.1.2.3 and 22.1.6.1 of the MOS.
Note 1 Paragraph 22.1.2.1 of the MOS requires a Fire Station Communication Centre (FSCC) to have clear vision of the runway and “short final” approaches.
Note 2 Paragraph 22.1.2.3 of the MOS requires aerodrome fire alarms to terminate at aerodrome ARFFS FSCC.
Note 3 Paragraph 22.1.6.1 of the MOS requires the establishment of “Hot Fire” training facilities at the aerodrome.
Schedule 2 Conditions
1 AA must:
(a) monitor the “Hot Fire” training currently provided to Sunshine Coast Airport, Maroochydore ARFFS staff at Brisbane Airport; and
(b) either:
(i) every six months provide CASA with a report that contains particulars of the training provided at Brisbane Airport, and an assessment of the effectiveness of that training as opposed to equivalent training if conducted at Sunshine Coast Airport, Maroochydore; or
(ii) provide a “Hot Fire” training ground at Sunshine Coast Airport, Maroochydore.
2 AA must make reasonable effort to secure a lease for the construction of a permanent fire station at Sunshine Coast Airport, Maroochydore before the expiry of this instrument.
3 AA must, by 1 February 2010, tell CASA in writing if a lease is unable to be signed before, or construction is unable to be completed before, the expiry of this instrument, why a lease cannot be signed or why construction is unable to be completed before the expiry of the instrument.
