Aeronautical Experience Requirements for Grant of Commercial Pilot Licences (Aeroplane Category) Exemption 2017
1 Name
This instrument is CASA EX172/17 — Aeronautical Experience Requirements for Grant of Commercial Pilot Licences (Aeroplane Category) Exemption 2017.
2 Duration
This instrument:
(a) commences on 1 January 2018; and
(b) is repealed at the end of 31 January 2020.
3 Definitions
Note In this instrument, certain terms and expressions have the same meaning as they have in the Civil Aviation Act 1988 and the regulations. These include: aeroplane, flight time, pilot licence, pilot in command and registered. Also, regulation 61.010 of CASR defines recognised aeroplane, recognised gyroplane, recognised helicopter and recognised powered‑lift aircraft.
In this instrument:
CPL(A) means a commercial pilot licence with an aeroplane category rating.
exempt CPL(A) applicant means an applicant for a CPL(A) who:
(a) holds a commercial pilot licence with a helicopter category rating or an air transport pilot licence with a helicopter category rating; and
(b) has a total of at least 100 hours of flight time as pilot in command of a qualifying aircraft; and
(c) has, as part of the total hours of flight time mentioned in paragraph (b), at least 60 hours of flight time as pilot in command of aeroplanes.
qualifying aircraft means any of the following:
(a) a registered aircraft;
(b) a recognised aeroplane;
(c) a recognised gyroplane;
(d) a recognised helicopter;
(e) a recognised powered‑lift aircraft.
4 Exemption
