Exemption — participation in land and hold short operations (Air New Zealand)

1          Duration

                 This instrument:

(a)   commences on 1 December 2014; and

(b)   expires at the end of November 2017, as if it had been repealed by another instrument.

2          Repeal

                 Instrument CASA EX120/11 is repealed.

3          Application

                 This instrument applies to:

(a)   an air traffic services (ATS) provider, within the meaning of regulation 172.015 of CASR 1998; and

(b)   land and hold short operations (LAHSO) conducted by Air New Zealand Limited, Auckland, New Zealand, Aviation Reference Number 500040 (the operator), using Airbus A320 series aircraft.

4          Exemption

(1) An ATS provider is exempt from compliance with paragraph 172.065 (1) (a) of CASR 1998 to the extent mentioned in subsection (2).

        (2)     The exemption applies only to the standards set out in subsections 10.13.5.3, 10.13.5.4 and 10.13.5.7 of the Manual of Standards Part 172.

5          Conditions

                 The exemption is subject to the conditions set out in Schedule 1.

Schedule 1          Conditions

        1     Before conducting LAHSO, the pilot in command must confirm that both operating pilots have completed the LAHSO computer-based training package within the currency period specified in the operator’s exposition.

        2     The operator must seek and secure a LAHSO endorsement on their New Zealand air operator’s certificate by the end of November 2017.
