CASA EX15/20 — Aeronautical Experience Requirements for Grant of Commercial Pilot Licence (Aeroplane Category) Exemption 2020

1          Name

                 This instrument is CASA EX15/20 — Aeronautical Experience Requirements for Grant of Commercial Pilot Licence (Aeroplane Category) Exemption 2020.

2          Duration

                 This instrument:

(a)   commences on 1 February 2020; and

(b)   is repealed at the end of 31 January 2023.

3          Definitions

Note   In this instrument, certain terms and expressions have the same meaning as they have in the Civil Aviation Act 1988 and the regulations. These include: aeroplane, flight time, pilot licence, pilot in command and registered.

     In this instrument:

CPL(A) means a commercial pilot licence with the aeroplane category rating.

exempt CPL(A)applicant means an applicant for a CPL(A), under regulation 61.610 of CASR, who:

(a)   holds a commercial pilot licence, or air transport pilot licence, with the helicopter category rating; and

(b)   has a total of at least 100 hours of flight time as pilot in command of a qualifying aircraft; and

(c)   has, as part of the total hours of flight time mentioned in paragraph (b), a total of at least 60 hours, but less than 100 hours, of flight time as pilot in command of an aeroplane.

qualifying aircraft means any of the following:

(a)   a registered aircraft;

(b)   a recognised aeroplane;

(c)   a recognised gyroplane;

(d)   a recognised helicopter;

(e)   a recognised powered-lift aircraft.

recognised aeroplane has the meaning given by regulation 61.010 of CASR.

recognised gyroplane has the meaning given by regulation 61.010 of CASR.

recognised helicopterhas the meaning given by regulation 61.010 of CASR.

recognised powered-lift aircraft has the meaning given by regulation 61.010 of CASR.

4          Exemption

                 AnexemptCPL(A)applicantisexemptfromcompliancewithparagraph61.610(1)(b)ofCASR.
