Exemption — from requirement to carry published charts

1          Duration

            This instrument:

(a)   commences on 9 March 2006; and

(b)   stops having effect at the end of 31 May 2006.

2          Definitions

            In this instrument, words and expressions have the same meaning as in instrument CASA 19/06.

3          Application

            This instrument applies:

(a)   to the pilot in command of an RNP capable Boeing 737-800 aeroplane (an aircraft) operated by Qantas Airways Ltd (Qantas); and

(b)   to the RNAV (RNP-AR) trial described in instrument CASA 19/06 (the Qantas trial); and

(c)   to a flight that includes an approach to, or departure from, runway 16R at Kingsford Smith aerodrome (16R KSA).

4          Exemption

The pilot in command of an aircraft for a flight in the Qantas trial is exempt from compliance with paragraph 233 (1) (h) of CAR 1988 to the extent mentioned in Schedule 1.

5          Condition

            The exemption is subject to the condition mentioned in Schedule 2.

Schedule 1          Extent of exemption from CAR 233 (1) (h)

             The requirement that the RNAV (RNP-AR) approach and departure charts for 16R KSA must be those published in AIP or by an approved person.

Schedule 2          Condition

            The pilot in command must ensure that originals or exact copies of the final RNAV (RNP-AR) approach and departure charts for 16R KSA, designed by Naverus Inc., for Qantas, for the flight, are carried in the aircraft and are readily accessible to the flight crew.
