Exemption — recency requirement for air traffic control endorsement

1          Duration

                 This instrument:

(a)   commences on 1 August 2015; and

(b)   expires at the end of July 2018, as if it had been repealed by another instrument. 

2          Repeal

                 Instrument CASA EX118/12 is repealed.

3          Definitions

In this instrument:

PRM means Precision Runway Monitoring.

PRMS means Precision Runway Monitoring Simulator.

4          Application

                 This instrument applies to the holder of an air traffic control (ATC) licence who is performing air traffic control duties at Sydney Airport (YSSY) in relation to PRM.

5          Exemption

The holder of an ATC licence is exempt from the recency requirement of subregulation 65.025 (1) of CASR 1998, but only for a PRM endorsement.

6          Conditions

                 The exemption is subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedule 1.

Schedule 1          Conditions

        1     The holder of an ATC licence must perform at least 5 hours of duties within the previous 21 days.

        2     For clause 1, time spent on the PRMS located in Sydney may count towards the 5 hours of duties.

        3     If Airservices Australia, Aviation Reference Number 202210 (AA), makes any changes to the PRMS, AA must seek CASA’s approval to the changes before the PRMS is used to meet the recency requirement.
