Exemption — Mode S transponder equipment at Brisbane aerodrome for Aviation Careers Expo
1 Duration
This instrument:
(a) commences on 18 August 2017; and
(b) is repealed at the end of 21 August 2017.
2 Application
This instrument applies to a person using an aircraft:
(a) at Brisbane aerodrome (YBBN) at the invitation of Aviation Australia Pty Ltd, ARN 580292, as the organiser of the Aviation Careers Expo held at the aerodrome on 19 and 20 August 2017; and
(b) that does not meet the requirements relating to Mode S transponder equipment mentioned in paragraph 9E.4 of Civil Aviation Order 20.18 (CAO 20.18).
3 Exemption
The person is exempt from compliance with:
(a) paragraph 9E.4 of CAO 20.18; and
(b) paragraph 207 (2) (b) of CAR to the extent that the paragraph requires a person to meet the requirements mentioned in paragraph 9E.4 of CAO 20.18.
4 Conditions
The exemption is subject to the following conditions:
(a) the person must ensure that the aircraft is equipped with a serviceable Mode A/C transponder that meets the requirements for operation in the airspace over Brisbane aerodrome;
(b) the person must prepare a flight plan and ensure that item 18 of the flight plan seeking clearance for the aircraft during the operations includes the text:
“RMK/CASA MODE S EXEMPT”.
