Exemption — alignment line at primary parking position (operators of certified aerodromes)
1 Duration
This instrument:
(a)commences on the day of registration; and
(b)is repealed at the end of 30 November 2019.
2 Repeal
CASA 93/16 is repealed.
3 Application
This instrument applies to the operator of a certified aerodrome (the aerodrome operator).
4 Exemption
(1) The aerodrome operator is exempt from regulation 139.170 of CASR 1998 to the extent that the regulation require the marking of an alignment line at a primary parking position forward of a pilot stop line or a marshaller stop line in accordance with paragraph 8.5.18 of the Manual of Standards (MOS) – Part 139 Aerodromes.
(2) Where both a pilot stop line and a marshaller stop line are marked, subsection (1) applies in relation to whichever stop line is most forward.
(3) The exemption is subject to the conditions in section 5.
5 Conditions
(1) If the alignment line forward of a pilot stop line or marshaller stop line has not been provided at a primary parking position, the aerodrome operator must ensure that an aircraft using the parking position:
(a) uses a Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS); or
(b) if the VDGS is not operational or not installed — is marshalled into the parking position.
(2) The aerodrome operator must:
(a) include details of this exemption in the operator’s aerodrome manual (the Manual); and
(b) ensure that the provisions in the Manual relating to alignment lines reflect the terms of this exemption; and
(c) ensure that operators of aircraft using the aerodrome are advised about the provisions in the Manual relating to alignment lines.
