CASA EX09/2005 Exemption Qantas operations at Auckland aerodrome (Cth)

Exemption — Qantas operations at
Duration
This instrument:
(a)commences on 1 April 2005; and
(b)ceases to have effect at the end of 30 May 2005.
Definitions
In this instrument:
aircraft means Boeing 747-300 or Boeing 747-400 aircraft operated by Qantas Airways Ltd at
aerodrome. Auckland
operator means Qantas Airways Ltd.
Application
This instrument applies to the operator, and the pilot in command, of an aircraft landing or taking-off on runway 05L/23R while runway 05R/23L is under repair.
Exemptions
The pilot in command of an aircraft is exempt from compliance with subregulations 92A (1), (3) and (4) of CAR 1988.
The operator of an aircraft is exempt from compliance with subregulations 92A (3) and (4A) of CAR 1988.
Conditions
The exemptions are subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedules 1 and 2.
Schedule 1 Conditions — take-off and landing on 05L/23R
The aerodrome operator must have a reporting officer who:
(a)meets the requirements of Part 139 of the Civil Aviation Rules of
(the NZ rules); and New Zealand
(b)performs the functions for reporting officers mentioned in that Part.
Subject to clause 3, the aerodrome must have a movement area:
(a)whose physical characteristics meet the standards in Part 139 of the NZ rules; and
(b)whose markings meet the standards in that Part.
For a take-off or landing on runway 05L/23R, the graded runway strip width reduction must be at least 122 metres for a distance of not more than 265 metres.
The aerodrome must have an approved means of providing surface wind information for runway 05L/23R, and the pilot in command must have received that information before take-off or landing.
The lighting system at the aerodrome must comply with Part 139 of the NZ rules.
The operator and the pilot in command must comply with the Qantas operations manual and any instructions or conditions issued under the Civil Aviation Act 1990 of
in relation to a take-off or landing on runway 05L/23R.New Zealand
The pilot in command of an aircraft engaged in a take-off or landing must have a copy of this exemption with him or her.
Schedule 2 Conditions — take-off on 23R only
A take-off must be conducted by the pilot who has been designated by the operator as the captain of the aircraft.
The maximum crosswind must not exceed 60% of any limiting crosswind stated in the Qantas operations manual in relation to take-off.
A take-off must not be conducted in:
(a)heavy rain; or
(b)with standing water on the runway.
The aircraft must not take-off if it has a permissible unserviceability, in the form of a minimum equipment list, for:
(a)nose wheel steering; or
(b)aeroplane braking; or
(c)engine reverse thrust.
In this Schedule:
heavy rain and standing water on the runway have the same meanings as in the Qantas operations manual.
