Exemption — operating aircraft engines in Ordinance Loading Areas at Darwin
1 Duration
This instrument:
(a) commences on the day after it is registered; and
(b) stops having effect at the end of 31 January 2013.
2 Application
This instrument applies to flight crew working for Careflight (NSW) Limited, trading as Careflight, Aviation Reference Number 405385 (the operator), when starting and operating aircraft engines within Ordinance Loading Areas (OLAs) at Darwin aerodrome.
3 Exemption
An aircraft operated by the operator is exempt from compliance with subregulation 235 (7) of CAR 1988 to the extent mentioned in Schedule 1.
4 Definition
OLA means an arched open ended hangar normally used to refuel and load Australian Defence Force aircraft, while providing shade and shelter for ground crews.
5 Conditions
The exemption is subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedule 2.
Schedule 1 Extent of exemption
The exemption extends only to the directions under subregulation 235 (7) of CAR 1988 that are contained in subparagraphs 5.1.4 (a) and (e) of Civil Aviation Order 20.9.
Schedule 2 Conditions
1 This exemption applies only to Beech King 200 aircraft engaged in loading and unloading patients.
2 The engines must be started and operated in OLAs in accordance with the established procedures for doing so.
3 The equipment installed in OLAs to ensure the safety of aircraft and people in the OLA, including fire extinguishers, sprinklers and alarm systems, must be serviceable.
