CIVIL AVIATION REGULATIONS

DIRECTION UNDER SUBREGULATION 38 (1)

I, FRANK RICHARD HAMILTON GRIMSHAW, a delegate of CASA, under subregulation 38 (1) of the Civil Aviation Regulations, direct that the operator and pilot in command of an aircraft operated by Qantas Airways Limited must ensure that:

(a)     the aviation turbine grade fuel which is loaded onto the aircraft contains an anti-static additive; or

(b)     if aviation turbine grade fuel that contains an anti-static additive is not available—during the fuelling operations, the aircraft and the fuelling equipment are connected to an earth point with a resistance to earth of 10,000 ohms or less.

The operator and pilot in command, as the case may be, must comply with whichever of the following provisions of section 20.9 of the Civil Aviation Orders are applicable:

              (a)  subsections 3 and 6;

              (b)  paragraphs 4.1.1, 4.1.1.1, 4.1.1.2, 4.1.2, 4.3.1 to 4.5.3 (inclusive) and 4.7;

              (c)  subparagraphs 4.2.2 (a) to (i) (inclusive) and subparagraphs 4.2.2 (k) and (l); and

              (d)  subparagraph 4.2.5 (b); and

              (e)  paragraphs 5.1, 5.1.1, 5.1.3, 5.1.4, 5.2 and 5.3.
