Approval under subregulation 207 (2) of CAR 1988

1          Duration

            This instrument:

(a)   commences on the day after it is registered; and

(b)   stops having effect at the end of November 2008.

2          Approval

            I approve the nasal cannula type individual oxygen dispensing units, manufactured under the name “Oxymizer”, for use by flight crew members in Australian aircraft in the course of private, aerial work or charter operations.

3          Conditions

   (1)     Each unit must have a flow rate of at least 0.3 litre per minute at 10 000 feet altitude, increasing by 0.1 litre per minute for every 2 000 feet, up to 18 000 feet altitude.

Note   Under paragraph 5.1.3, of Civil Aviation Order 108.26 (CAO 108.26), use of nasal cannula type units is not permitted above 18 000 feet.

   (2)     Other individual oxygen dispensing units for use in the aircraft, that are designed to cover the nose and mouth, must:

(a)   be provided in accordance with paragraph 5.1.2 of CAO 108.26; and

(b)   comply with paragraph 6.1 of that Order.
