CASA 44/18 — Number of Cabin Attendants (Virgin Australia Airlines) Direction 2018

1          Name

                 This instrument is CASA 44/18 — Number of Cabin Attendants (Virgin Australia Airlines) Direction 2018.

2          Duration

                 This instrument:

(a)   commences on 1 July 2018; and

(b)   is repealed at the end of 30 June 2020.

3          Application

                 This instrument applies to Virgin Australia Airlines Pty Ltd (Virgin Australia Airlines), ARN 567591, if Virgin Australia Airlines operates B737‑800 series aircraft with a type certificate data sheet that provides for a maximum seating capacity of 189 passengers (the relevant aircraft)in charter, or regular public transport, operations.

4          Directions

        (1)     Subparagraph 6.1 (b) of Civil Aviation Order 20.16.3, as in force from time to time, does not apply to Virgin Australia Airlines in respect of its operation of the relevant aircraft.

        (2)     Virgin Australia Airlines must assign for duty at least 1 cabin attendant for every 50 passenger seats or part of that number fitted to the relevant aircraft.

        (3)     Virgin Australia Airlines must not, without the prior written approval of CASA, revise any part of its operations manual affecting emergency procedures for the relevant aircraft, including in relation to exits or procedures relating to able‑bodied passengers.
