Direction — to investigate major defects in Dornier 328-100 aircraft and report to CASA

1           Duration

             This instrument:

(a)     commences on the day of registration; and

(b)     stops having effect at the end of 31 December 2009.

2           Definitions

             In this instrument:

             uncommanded means an event not initiated by the pilot or a response not consistent with pilot inputs.

             engine power means engine power as indicated by 1 or more of the indicated RPM, the fuel flow or temperature.

3           Application

             This instrument applies to the investigation of uncommanded engine power and torque fluctuations experienced during flight on the Dornier 328-100 aircraft operated by Aerorescue Pty Limited, Aviation Reference Number 599914 (Aerorescue).

4           Direction

     (1)      I direct Aerorescue to:

(a)     investigate the cause or causes of all uncommanded engine power and torque fluctuations, occurring since May 2008 and before the issue of this instrument, experienced on the Dornier 328-100 aircraft operated by Aerorescue Pty Limited; and

(b)     report the results of the investigation, and the corrective and remedial actions taken, to CASA using the CASA Service Difficulty Reporting system in accordance with regulation 51 of CAR 1988; and

(c)     provide the Northern Region — Cairns office with a copy of the report of the investigation results, and the corrective and remedial actions taken; and

(d)     investigate and report all further uncommanded engine power and torque fluctuation, experienced on the Dornier-328-100 aircraft operated by Aerorescue Pty Limited, using the CASA Service Difficulty Reporting system.

     (2)      The investigation required by paragraph (1) (a) must be completed by 31 October 2009.

     (3)      The reports required by paragraph (1) (b) and (c) must be submitted by 6 November 2009.
