PERMISSION FOR CERTAIN GLIDERS TO FLY UNDER THE V.F.R. WITHOUT A SECONDARY SURVEILLANCE RADAR TRANSPONDER

I, ARTHUR JOHN WHITE, Acting Executive Manager, Aviation Safety Compliance, a delegate of CASA, under subregulation 174A (3) of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 (CAR 1988):

(a)give permission for the pilot in command of a glider:

(i)who is a member of the Gliding Federation of Australia (GFA);  and

(ii)who operates from Bunyan Airfield (36.08.189 S 149.08.553 E) for the purpose of flights under the V.F.R. in Class A airspace;

to fly a glider that is not equipped with a secondary surveillance radar transponder of the kind described in paragraph 1.2 of section 52.1 of the Civil Aviation Orders;  and

(b)give the permission subject to the conditions specified in the Schedule.

SCHEDULE

Conditions

  1. The pilot in command must operate the glider in accordance with all the requirements of the Letter of Agreement between Airservices Australia and the Canberra Gliding Club (reference LOA 249 version 4) dated 8 July 2004 in relation to Snowy Mountains Wave Soaring Areas.

  1. The pilot in command of a glider must observe all of the conditions specified in instrument CASA 435/04.

This permission starts having effect on gazettal and stops having effect at the end of July 2006.
