CASA 36/20 — Number of Cabin Attendants (Virgin Australia Regional Airlines) Direction 2020
1 Name
This instrument is CASA 36/20 — Number of Cabin Attendants (Virgin Australia Regional Airlines) Direction 2020.
2 Duration
This instrument:
(a) commences on 1 July 2020; and
(b) is repealed at the earlier of the following:
(i) the commencement of the Civil Aviation Safety Amendment (Part 121) Regulations 2018;
(ii) the end of 31 May 2022.
Note For regulation 11.250 of CASR, the directions issued in this instrument cease to be in force at the earlier of the times mentioned in paragraph (b).
3 Definitions
Note In this instrument, certain terms and expressions have the same meaning as they have in the Civil Aviation Act 1988 and the regulations. These include: operations manualand type certificate data sheet.
In this instrument:
cabin attendanthas the meaning given by subsection 2 of Civil Aviation Order 20.16.3.
relevant aircraft means any of the following aircraft:
(a) an Airbus A320-200 series aircraft with the certified maximum passenger seating capacity of 168 passengers, and corresponding cabin configuration, mentioned in the relevant type certificate data sheet;
(b) a Fokker F28 MK 0100 series aircraft with the certified maximum seating capacity of 100 passengers, and corresponding cabin configuration, mentioned in the relevant type certificate data sheet.
relevant type certificate data sheet means the type certificate data sheet, for the relevant aircraft, as it exists at the commencement of this instrument.
Virgin Australia Regional Airlines means Virgin Australia Regional Airlines Pty Ltd, ARN 075986.
4 Application
This instrument applies to Virgin Australia Regional Airlines in relation to its operation of the relevant aircraft in charter, or regular public transport, operations.
5 Directions
(1) Subparagraph 6.1 (b) of Civil Aviation Order 20.16.3, as in force from time to time, does not apply to Virgin Australia Regional Airlines in respect of its operation of the relevant aircraft.
(2) Virgin Australia Regional Airlines must assign for duty at least 1 cabin attendant for each 50, or part of 50, passenger seats fitted for each flight of a relevant aircraft.
(3) Virgin Australia Regional Airlines must give written notice to CASA of any proposed revision of any part of Virgin Australia Regional Airlines’ operations manual that relates to emergency procedures for the relevant aircraft, including in relation to exits.
(4) A notice mentioned in subsection (3) must be given at least 14 days before making the proposed revision.
