Direction — carriage of cabin attendants in hot air balloons
1 Duration
This instrument:
(a) commences on the day after it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments; and
(b) stops having effect at the end of May 2008.
2 Revocation
Instrument CASA 611/04 is revoked.
3 Application
This instrument applies to the B350 balloon (the balloon):
(a) bearing the nationality and registration marks VH-UNK; and
(b) operated by Windward Adventures Pty Ltd (Aviation Reference Number 403420) (the operator).
4 Direction
The operator may operate the balloon carrying more than 15 passengers without carrying a cabin attendant.
5Conditions
The direction is subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedule 1.
Schedule 1 Conditions
1No more than 16 passengers must be carried.
2An approximately equal weight of passengers must be located in each passenger compartment.
3During the operations, the passengers must, at all times, be in a position to hear any instructions given by the pilot in command.
4There must be 2 suitably trained ground crew available, with 1 at either end of the basket, to assist the pilot with the embarkation and disembarkation of passengers.
5The training required by the ground crew mentioned in clause 4 must be included in the operator’s operations manual.
6The operations must be conducted in accordance with section 20.16.3 of the Civil Aviation Orders, other than subparagraph 6 (1) (a) and paragraph 7.
