DIRECTIONS RELATING TO ILLUMINATION OF EMERGENCY EXITS

I, Christopher Vincent Genge, Team Leader (Flying Operations), a delegate of CASA, under subregulation 207 (2) of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988, direct that:

(a)the Australian aircraft bearing the nationality and registration marks VH-FNA, VH-FNB, VH-FND, VH-FNH or VH-FNI must be equipped with an emergency lighting system in accordance with airworthiness directive Part 139-105 AD/General/4;  and

(b)when the aircraft is on the ground with passengers on board:

(i)the emergency lighting system must be switched on;  or

(ii)the normal cabin lights must be switched on and the emergency lighting system must be armed.

Subparagraph 1 (b) does not apply if:

(a)ground power is not provided at the aerodrome;  and

(b)all passengers have disembarked except for not more than two handicapped passengers, with their carers;  and

(c)the following procedures are complied with:

(i)the handicapped passengers and their carers may remain on board in daylight hours only;

(ii)if a handicapped passenger remains on board, a flight attendant must provide a detailed briefing on emergency evacuation procedures to the passenger and his or her carer or carers immediately after the other passengers have disembarked;

(iii)a flight attendant must be in the cabin while a handicapped passenger and his or her carer or carers remain on board after the other passengers have disembarked;

(iv)the cabin door is to be kept open;

(v)the equipment for unloading the handicapped passenger, if required, must be in position at an open door.
