Direction — number of cabin attendants (Eastern Australia Airlines)

1          Duration

                 This instrument:

(a)   commences on 1 December 2016; and

(b)   is repealed at the end of 30 November 2018.

2          Application

                 This instrument applies to Eastern Australia Airlines Pty Limited, ARN 401654 (the aircraft operator), if it operates a DHC8–300 series aircraft with a type certificate data sheet that provides for a maximum seating capacity of 50 passengers (the aircraft) for a purpose prescribed in paragraph 206 (1) (b) or (c) of CAR 1988.

3          Directions

   (1)     Subparagraph 6.1 (b) of Civil Aviation Order 20.16.3 does not apply to the aircraft operator.

   (2)     The aircraft operator must assign for duty at least 1 cabin attendant for every 50 passenger seats or part of that number fitted to the aircraft.

   (3)     These directions are subject to the conditions in section 4.

4          Conditions

   (1)     The operator must not, without the prior written approval of CASA, revise any part of the operator’s operations manual relating to emergency procedures, including exits, or the procedures relating to able-bodied passengers.

   (2)     A copy of this direction must be included in the operator’s operations manual.
