AN ORDINANCE

To amend the Careless Use of Fire Ordinance 1936-1971.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under

the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910-1973.

CARELESS USE O F FIRE ORDINANCE 1974

1. (1 ) This Ordinance may be cited as the Careless Use of Fire

Ordinance 1974.*

(2 ) The Careless Use of Fire Ordinance 1936-1971$ is in this

Ordinance referred to as the Principal Ordinance.

(3) The Principal Ordinance, as amended by this Ordinance, may

be cited as the Careless Use of Fire Ordinance 1936-1974.

2. Section 3 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by inserting

after the definition of " Counci l" the following definitions:—

" ' Fire Brigade' means the Fire Brigade established by the

Fire Brigade (Administration) Ordinance 1974;

" ' Fire Commissioner' means the Fire Commissioner appointed

under the Fire Brigade (Administration)	Ordinance
1974;".

3. Section 5N of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-section (1) the words " an officer of the Canberra Fire Brigade " and substituting the words " a member of the Fire Brigade ".

4. Section 9A of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-paragraph (b) (i) the words " Chief Officer of the Canberra Fire Brigade " and substituting the words " Fire Commissioner ".

5. Section 10 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-paragraph (a)-(ii) the words " Chief Officer of the Canberra Fire Brigade " and substituting the words " Fire Commissioner ".
