AN ORDINANCE

To amend the Careless Use of Fire Ordinance

1936-1946.

by the Seat, of Government Acceptance Act 1909-1938 and the Federal Executive Council, in pursuance of the powers conferred BE it ordained by the Governor-General in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, with the advice of the
I Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910-19-17. as follows:—

1.— (1.) This Ordinance may be cited as the Careless Use of short title and

Fire Ordinance 1952.* citation.

(2.) The Careless Use of Fire Ordinance 1936-1946, as amended by this Ordinance, may be cited as the Careless' Use of Fiie Ordinance I936-1952.

2. After section seven of the Careless Use of Fire Ordinance

1936-1946 the following section is inserted:—

" 7 A . — (1.) A person shall not light a fire in the open air on a pays of acute

day or during a period in respect of which the Minister has

caused—

(a) to be published in a newspaper circulating in the

Territory; or

(b) to be broadcasl from a broadcasting station in the

Territory,

a warning of the likelihood of the occurrence of weather conditions
conducive to the spread of fires.

Penalty: One hundred pounds or imprisonment for six months. " (2.) The provisions of the last preceding sub-section do not
