I, GREG COMBET, Minister for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, make this instrument for the definition of ‘Kyoto Australian carbon credit unit’ in section 5 of the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Act 2011.

1              Name of instrument

This instrument is the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) – Kyoto Australian Carbon Credit Unit Specification 2011.

2              Commencement

This instrument commences at the same time as section 3 of the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Act 2011.

3              Kyoto Australian carbon credit unit

For the definition of ‘Kyoto Australian carbon credit unit’ in section 5 of the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Act 2011, the following attributes are specified:

(1)   The Australian carbon credit unit is issued in respect of an eligible Kyoto project;

(2)   The reporting period in respect of which the Australian carbon credit unit is issued ends on or before the Kyoto abatement deadline; and

(3)   The Australian carbon credit unit is identified as a Kyoto Australian carbon credit unit within the Australian National Registry of Emissions Units.
