SEWERAGE ACT.

Act No. 12, 1918.

An Act to sanct ion t h e cons t ruc t ion of a system of

sewerage for t h e C a n t e r b u r y , Campsie ,
Be lmore , and B a n k s t o w n dis t r ic ts ; and for
purposes c o n s e q u e n t t h e r e o n or inc iden ta l
t h e r e t o . [Assented to , 19th March , 1918.]
W H E R E AS, in accordance with the provisions of

the Public Works Act, 1912, the Legislative Assembly did by resolution declare that it was expedient to carry out a certain work, namely, the construction of a system of sewerage for the Canterbury, Campsie, Belmore, and Bankstown districts : And whereas, on the passing of the said resolution, a statutory duty was by the said Act imposed on some member of the Executive Council having a seat in the said Assembly to introduce a Bill into the said Assembly to sanction the carrying out the said work : Be it therefore enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—•

1 . This Act may be cited as the "Canterbury,
Campsie, Belmore, and Bankstown Sewerage Act, 1918."
2 . The carrying out of the work (more particularly
described in the Schedule to this Act) is hereby
sanctioned; and the Minister for Public Works, or
the member of the Executive Council for the time
being performing the duties of the said Minister, is
hereby authorised to undertake and carry out the said
work,

work, subject to the provisions of this Act, and for that purpose shall he and have the powers of a Constructing Authority within the meaning of the Public Works Act, 1912.

3 . The plan of the said work is the plan marked "Canterbury, Campsie, Belmore, and Bankstown Sewerage," signed by the Secretary for Public Works, and countersigned by the Chief Engineer for Water Supply and Sewerage, and deposited in the public office of the said Secretary.

4 . The cost of carrying out the said work, estimated at one million two hundred and forty thousand pounds, may be defrayed from such Loan Votes as arc now or may hereafter be applicable to that purpose, or from appropriations of the Public Works Fund, or partly from such votes and partly from the said appropriations.

SCHEDULE.

THE completion of the third barrel of the existing western (outfall

aqueduct, the construction of an auxiliary carrier on the Arnelifle sewage farm, and the construction of main and reticulating sowers, pumping stations, rising mains, and all works incidental thereto necessary for the sewerage of parts of the municipalities of Lidcombe, Strathfield, Bankstown, Enfield, Canterbury, Rockdale, Bexley, and Hurstville, subject to such alterations and modifications as the Minister may deem desirable.
